If you’re anything like me, you’ve no doubt tried pretty much every diet out there but with little or no success. What is it with diets that simply don’t work? Many individuals believe the myth that dieting by eating less will result in weight loss. The truth is that when we cut down on the food we eat we are at risk for gaining weight. Your body is designed to interpret restricted food consumption with starvation. When we constantly eat less we trigger our body’s starvation preservation mode.

Studies show that thin people tend to eat a diet that contain plenty of complex carbohydrates (such as veggies, pulses etc) and individuals who are overweight follow diets that have a lot more fat and simple carbs. We need to fully understand how our bodies work in order to create a successful weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight fast is to follow a low GI diet where you restrict the total amount of carbs you consume every day, but don’t worry too much about the other foods. You should however make sure you don’t overeat, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and ensuring you get the right proportion of healthy and nutritious foods which are also low in saturated fats.

Chances are there are habits that contributed to the weight gain and our weight increase didn’t happen over night but rather over a period of months or even years. As it took so long for the weight to creep up, it will also take time to lose weight in a healthy fashion. People who haven’t figured out the balance between eating healthily, ensuring you get adequate water, exercising and getting plenty of sleep are easy prey to the marketing companies pushing the new fad diet, weight loss pill or quick weight loss plan. You don’t need to look far to find the latest fad diet or weight loss program. As we live in a world where we want everything now, it’s much easier to think (or even believe) that a magic does exist that can burn off fat virtually overnight, than to believe that we have the capability to change our lives and live healthier longer lives where obesity is the thing of the past.

Diets are doomed to failure because they do not teach you to build a healthy balance within your body. Most diets are doomed to failure because they are designed towards making the promoter or some company wealthy rather than producing a diet product or program that will actually assist a person to lose weight.

It’s widely documented that people who are carrying excess weight are at increased risk of illnesses and other life threatening health problems because of excessive body weight. Saturated fat consumption is one of the major reasons for unnecessary body fat.

People have been led to believe for too many years that they need to cut down on food or count every calorie they consume in the hope that they will burn off excess fat. Believe it or not our bodies know how to manage weight if we give them what they need to stay healthy – such as proper amounts of sleep, drink enough water, good and nutritious foods, and regular exercise.

Getting rid of those extra pounds is not simply about calorie counting, you should also not overeat. Proper portions of nutritious foods are crucial to losing weight. It’s also important that you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies respond well to physical exertion!
